bulletHappy New Year!

It may be the New Year, but to honest I haven't noticed. Nor have my parents and Nonna Carmen for that matter. Outside it might be the UK in the year 2005 AD, but thanks to me it's either feeding time, winding time, nappy changing time or screaming my head off time in my parents' world. Lucky them!

bulletThings That Annoy Me

There are several things that make me really upset. When one or more of these things occur, I let my parents know in a considered and appropriate manner (i.e. yelling my head off). Sometimes I cry for no apparent reason just to keep them on their toes.

I have three scream settings:

  1. Slightly Annoyed - I growl, grizzle and occasionally give warning shouts. If my parents have not second guessed my problem within two or three minutes I escalate my dissatisfaction to ...
  2. Annoyed - Here I scream loudly enough to give my parents tinnitus. This is my usual setting for life's little irritations. If my parents are still unable to guess why I am unhappy, I up the ante to...
  3. Apoplectic Rage - Oh dear. When I'm this angry, I howl inconsolably and my face goes a lovely shade of crimson. I also make the occasional little hoarse squeak and a noise not totally unlike a distressed sheep. I save this setting for bathtimes and injections.

For the record, the following things can and do annoy me on a regular basis:

  • Wind / colic
  • Being hungry
  • Not actually being hungry, but fancying a bit of a nuzzle against Mamma's breasty anyway. What annoys me is my parents' inability to understand the difference between this and feeding time.
  • Having my nappy changed, especially after my 3am feed
  • Not having my nappy changed
  • Being naked
  • Having a bath or having a wash, especially when naked
  • Wearing clothes that do not suit me (I'm not saying which ones, but I don't do violet)
  • Being disturbed while filling my nappy
  • Medical professionals in general.
  • My parents eating without consulting me first
  • Anything happening - past, present and future - without my explicit permission, submitted in triplicate three weeks prior to execution.

I am a reasonable person as long as you do what I say!

Addendum

I received this email on 6th January...

Giulia,

You need to be more reasonable to your parents, give them a break. Things will get easier and less painful as time goes on, so just relax.

Uncle Stephen

I promise to keep this in mind in the future. Daddy assures me that I will love being naked by the time I am ten weeks old, so maybe I'll enjoy bathtimes after all.

bulletMy Favourite Places

It's not all gloom and doom mind - being a baby does have its advantages!

  • Daddy has a very comfortable shoulder. It is the best place in the world for a sleep and to be winded.
  • I love the Baby Björn baby carrier that Auntie Fabi and Uncle Zoltan gave me. Mamma and Daddy put me in it, they carry me around and then I fall asleep. They then try to put me to sleep in my own bed and I wake up five minutes later. Then we start all over again with the baby carrier... Fun for all the family!
  • My Pramette. It is so comfortable!
  • My Baby Gym. I've just learnt that kicking the arches on the gym makes the toys rattle. Great fun!
  • My car seat, especially when Mamma or Daddy is driving.
  • Nonna Carmen's arms when she is singing the Tinky-Tonk song.

My number one favourite place in the whole world has to be in Mamma's arms when she is feeding me. I get a meal and a cuddle at the same time, and you really can't beat that.

bulletPhotos From January 2005
As before, I'm on a constant round of long sleeps, bathtimes and feeds.
This is my 'Happy Piggy' expression. I do this when I have had enough to eat.
This picture is called "La Quiete Dopo La Tempesta" or "The Quiet After The Storm", after a famous Italian poem by Giacomo Leopardi.
I really like the Green Froggy towel that Nonna gave me. Am I cute or what?
This pink outfit (far left and left) was a Christmas present from Zii Fabi and Zoltan.
My parents have been trying to get a picture of me smiling. I can smile - they have seen me - but I'm not ready just yet to get my grin captured on camera.
It's fun working out in my baby gym!
I'm still not sure if I like my baby swing...
