Away
In A Manger
Apparently
there is this wonderful thing called Christmas that happens
just under two weeks after my birthday every year!
Daddy says its something to do with the birth of another baby
called Jesus roughly 2000 years ago. I didn't really understand
the story he told me but there were shepherds, donkeys, kings
and angels involved, plus a bit about the baby being the Son
of God. Daddy said that I would hear more about this baby
when I start play school. He also said that I would enjoy
singing songs commemorating the baby's birth and playing one
of the characters in something called a 'Nativity Play'. Then
he started talking about a Queen called Victoria and her Albert
and how much they liked trees, a big scary man called Santa
Claus who climbs down chimneys, something called holly and
someone else called Charles Dickens and his friend Carol.
After this I remember very little because I fell asleep.
One thing
I do remember from what Daddy was saying was that it is customary
for people to give each other gifts for Christmas because
the baby Jesus received gifts from the aforementioned kings.
This sounds like a good idea to me! Mind you, considering
that I was only thirteen days old on Christmas Day this year,
my enjoyment of the presents I received was a bit limited.
Some of my toys played music, which I enjoyed immensely, but
their flashing lights weren't a patch on the ones on the Christmas
tree. What I really wanted was my breasty milk and cuddles
from Mamma, Daddy and Nonna. Daddy assures me that I will
enjoy my presents more when I am older. Thank you everyone
for my gifts!
All this
leaves one important question. I was given gifts on my birthday.
Then I got some more two weeks later for Christmas. Does this
mean that people buy presents for each other every two weeks?
Here are
