Are we sitting comfortably?
On 11 June 2004, my parents bought a Babypulse handheld fetal
doppler from BabyPulse.com.
My Mamma and Daddy like listening to my heartbeat because
it reassures them that I am healthy and growing well.
The trouble is that I
don't actually enjoy them pressing the doppler wand on Mamma's
tummy and I tend to wriggle away. This makes things a bit
difficult when Nonna Carmen is listening to my heartbeat on
the telephone!
Mamma
and Daddy have recorded a few seconds of my heartbeat for
posterity. I was 16w1d old when this recording was made. At
this stage in my development my heartbeat varies from 140
bpm (when I'm sleeping) to 156 bpm (after Mamma has just drunk
some fruit juice or eaten some chocolate).
Click
on the loudspeaker icon to listen...
You will
need to have an appropriate sound playback application enabled
in your browser to hear my heartbeat (e.g. Quicktime
or Windows
Media Player).
If you
listen carefully you can hear:
- Me
kicking and moving around (the loud bangs)
- Mamma's
heartbeat and the sound of blood moving in her placenta
