Sweet Home
Back in
February, I reported that Mamma and Daddy had sold their house
and had made an offer on another house in Basingstoke. Well,
the big Moving Day was 12 May 2006. Everyone became very stressed,
and I guess I picked up on a bit of that. A week before the
move Nonna came over from Italy to help. The day before the
move, I went to nursery as normal and when I came back the
entire contents of the house had been put into cardboard boxes,
including most of my books and toys. Apparently I was inconsolable
for a good half an hour. The following day I went to nursery
in the morning and then everything changed. We didn't go back
to my house, and I have not been to nursery since. Mamma,
Daddy and Nonna spent a tense lunchtime in the Costa cafe
in Woodley waiting for an important phone call to tell us
that our house sale and purchase had happened. Mid afternoon
everyone went to our new house in Basingstoke.
You'll
be pleased to hear that I really like my new house. There
is more room to run around inside, and there is a lovely garden
at the back and a traffic-free green area in front of the
house. My new room is bigger than my old one as well. And
best of all, the new kitchen is much, much bigger. Every mealtime
all four of us sit down at the kitchen table and eat together.
Mamma and Daddy used to do this with their parents when they
were growing up, so they are very pleased that they can eat
with me like this. I've met some of the children who live
nearby and they seem friendly, if slightly older than me.
Mamma has been organising play dates with some local children
of my own age and with some of my old friends from Reading.
As you
can appreciate, Daddy has not had much time to update my website
since the move. Mamma and Daddy have already redecorated two
of the three bedrooms (including mine!), and nearly all of
the cardboard boxes have been emptied and hidden away in the
garage. Things are starting to settle down again, but apparently
my parents have big plans for my new house. The most important
of these is the conversion of the garage into a fourth bedroom
for Nonna.
My Baby And Other Things
Mamma
calls me her little baby, even if I am really more of a toddler
now. To show how grown up I have become, I have been given
my own baby to look after. Her name is Bebe (or Baby, depending
on who is listening) and she is a My First Baby Annabel doll.
She has her own stroller and I love taking her for walks around
the garden. Daddy sometimes makes Bebe cry (naughty Daddy!)
so I sing her to sleep by singing the same lullaby that Nonna
and Mamma used to sing to me.
I also
have a new trundle truck toy. It is a little bit girly pink,
but don't let that deceive you. It is a rugged, all-terrain
vehicle that can cope with everything that my new house and
garden can throw at it (i.e. decking, lawn, patio concrete,
laminate, carpet, crushed toys, smushed food). It has built
in storage and a removable play handset. Much to Daddy's puzzlement,
I seem to spend more of my time repeatedly getting on and
off the trundle truck than actually pushing it along. Uncle
Stephen, a big trundle truck fan, really approves of my new
wheels. I can tell that he is itching to have a go...
Finally
- new house, new garden, new slide! Mamma and Daddy saw how
much I enjoyed playing with slides in public playgrounds,
so they decided to buy me one so I can have a little go whenever
I feel like it. I have learnt how say 'Ready, Steady, Go!'
then push myself off at the top. The first time I used the
slide I gave Mamma and Daddy a little bit of applause - it
really is that good! An interesting feature of the slide is
the way static electricity sometimes builds up when I go down
it, giving Mamma, Daddy or Nonna a big shock when they catch
me at the bottom. Fun for all the family!
