A
New Portrait Of Me
On 2nd
July, my parents had arranged a portrait session with the
Pixiphoto Studio in Mothercare in Basingstoke. The session
was, to be frank, fraught. I wanted to play with the Cozy
Coupe car in the store. The weather was baking hot. My idiotic
parents wanted to take a stupid photo of me so they can remember
me as a toddler. Not if I had anything to do with it!
Eventually,
after much cajoling, feather tickling and swings from Daddy,
I cheered up and the photographer managed to capture my smile:
|
This
is the way I see the world.
Mamma
and Daddy are important, but I am the centre of everything.
|
We picked
the photos up on 13th July. Daddy thought he saw the
photographer shudder when he saw me. Heh heh heh.
Centerparcs
Again
We went
to Centerparcs at Longleat again between Monday 17th and Friday
21st of July. Last time it rained
the entire time and I spent most of my time asleep. This time
I was a bit more active. The weather was really, really warm
too.
Our chalet
overlooked an enormous duck pond full of noisy little quackers.
I loved feeding them. We also saw some tiny baby ducks swimming
in the reeds. Click here to
see me playing with some ducks.
There
was fun to be had at the swimming pool, as long as you wanted
to watch me go down the toddler slide about fifty times in
a row. Click here to see me
in action! I heard dark rumours of bigger slides elsewhere
but I was more than happy with the one in the toddler area.
Mamma and Daddy kept taking turns to disappear and then return
ten minutes looking really soggy and strangely exhilarated.
I do hope they weren't having too much fun. I was coerced
into a rubber ring a few times and did some splashing about
with Mamma and Daddy, but I'm still not convinced about swimming.
At least I don't scream all the
time when I'm in the water now.
Away from
the pool there were toddler soft play and messy play sessions.
The latter had a fatal flaw; baked beans. As far as I am concerned,
baked beans are for eating and not for squishing. Mamma and
Daddy tried to stop me from eating them but I was having none
of that. I was quickly diverted to the bubble bath and painting
instead.
There
were lots of other activities that my parents wanted to do.
Perhaps next time...?

A
step in conquering my hydrophobia: grumpily sitting in
a rubber ring while Mamma watches. |

As
you can see, ducks have very good camouflage. Ah, but
nothing escapes my eagle eyes... DUCK!!! |

Apparently
a crepe with cheese and tomato on it is a pizza. As is
a piece of bread with cheese and tomato. H'mmmm. |

My
car. Not yours. Mine. |

Absolutely
blimmin fantastic! I could have gone down this slide all
day. (And I nearly did...) |

Messy
play session. Note exclusion zone around me. My parents
obviously weren't taking any chances. |

Shop
bought chocolate ice cream! Almost as good as Daddy's! |
Uncle Stephen
When we
came back from Centerparcs there was a surprise waiting for
me - my Uncle Stephen. He looks like Daddy but taller. I didn't
know what to make of him, so I stayed in my default 'Who Is
This Stranger?' ultra-cautious mode the entire time he was
staying with us. This meant that I didn't want to be in the
same room as him, and when I had to be within 2 metres of
his presence I emitted a low insistent mantra of 'no no no
no no no...'. Mamma and Daddy are hoping that I will be more
accommodating when he and Auntie Anne come to stay in September.

Another
step in conquering my fear of water: the shallow stream. |

Mamma,
those are my shoes now. Mia! |

It
was a hot day. I had my paddling pool. Mamma and Daddy
were so jealous. |

Spot
the bedtime routine. 'Hippos Go Berserk', followed by
'Chase Mamma' on the landing and finally sleep. |
